Conditions we treat

Peripheral Neuropathy: Peripheral neuropathy is nerve pain that can occur as a result of diabetes, chemotherapy, or unknown (idiopathic) causes. Different types of nerve damage cause different symptoms. Symptoms can range from pain and numbness in your feet to problems with the functions of your internal organs, such as your heart and bladder. Neuropathy Treatment Institute specializes in the treatment of peripheral neuropathy pain.

Diabetic neuropathy is a type of nerve damage that can occur in people with diabetes. It affects various parts of the body, including the legs, feet, arms, and hands, and can lead to symptoms such as pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness. It can also cause problems with digestion, sexual function, and urination. The condition is caused by high blood sugar levels damaging the blood vessels and nerves over time.

Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS): Failed back surgery syndrome (a) is a very generalized term that is often used to describe the condition of patients who have not had a successful result with spine surgery of the neck or back and have experienced continued, uncontrolled pain after surgery. If you are suffering from FBSS, a Spinal Cord Stimulator could be the right solution for you.

Chronic Pain Syndrome: Pain is your body’s normal reaction to an injury or illness, a warning that something is wrong. When your body heals, you usually stop hurting. But for many people, pain continues long after its cause is gone. When it lasts for 3 to 6 months or more, it’s called chronic pain. When you hurt day after day, it can take a toll on your emotional and physical health. Call to see if a Spinal Cord Stimulator could be a solution to your chronic pain.

Fibromyalgia: Fibromyalgia is a condition that causes pain all over the body (also referred to as widespread pain), sleep problems, fatigue, and often emotional and mental distress. People with fibromyalgia may be more sensitive to pain than people without fibromyalgia. If you do not respond well to pharmaceutical treatment, a Spinal Cord Stimulator may relieve your pain from fibromyalgia.

The Neuropathy Treatment Institute Process

Careful patient selection is the key to great outcomes. First, you will undergo a screening process to determine if the Effex Procedure is right for you.

If you are a candidate, you will be scheduled for a trial procedure. In the trial, the battery is not implanted, but worn on a belt for about a week. If you experience strong results, this means the permanent implant will almost certainly produce the same!

About 75-90% of trials are successful and the patients then move on to the permanent implant. That procedure is performed outpatient, meaning patients walk out of the surgery center on the same day.
